Hydrocarbon source rocks in Kazhdumi and Pabdeh formations—a quick outlook in Gachsaran oilfield, SW Iran

Abstract Geochemical study of Kazhdumi and Pabdeh Formations as potential source rocks in Gachsaran Oilfield demonstrates that the Formation has a fair to good capability hydrocarbon generation predominately contains type II-III kerogen. On other hand, poor petroleum different kerogen types, including II, II-III, III even for one sample, IV, indicating depositional conditions this formation. The geochemical log shows there is close correlation between geological parameters noticed prominently well number 55, which suggests more extensive anoxic condition, higher Formation. By contrast, TOC Rock–Eval-derived at depth than 2100 m may demonstrate inert organic matter mineral matrix effects interval. However, biomarkers show differences lithology environment numbers 55 83. mixed (carbonate-shale) deposited marine setting under suboxic–anoxic condition. Moreover, thermal maturity indicators suggest are immature early mature, respectively.
